Lots of London, Too Little Time

If there is one thing I’ve learned in London thus far, it’s this: there is so much to see and do and not enough time to do it! London is such a beautiful city bursting at the seams with museums, historical sites, gorgeous streets, and (especially) places to eat– and the more I do, the more my list of things to do here grows. So far, I have:

Embraced being a touristy tourist.

On Saturday, we went on the “Panoramic Tour of London,” which was perfect for getting a birds-eye view of just how much there is to see. After walking about 12 miles each day since I’ve been here, I pretty much have the Regent’s Park bubble (and the surrounding few blocks) in central London pinned down (and I think I’ve worn a path to the closest Tesco).

On the tour, in typical tourist fashion, we loaded onto a bus, where our half-American, half-Italian, non-Brit tour guide took us all around the city. We saw St. Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, as well as various other historical sites, parks, and beautiful streets. It was a packed day, and I will definitely be retracing our steps to spend more time actually touring and exploring many of the sites.

Booked some incredible trips.

After settling in a bit, I’ve had some time to start pinning down where else I’ll be able to explore while I’m here. Locally, I have planned to visit my first couple museums this week. (Spoiler alert: in a couple weekends I’ll be in Milan!)

Experienced classic London rain!

Finally, after a whole week of living in London, it rained. (Cue yet another trip made to Tesco for rain gear left in the States).

And gone to….class?

That is, after all, why I’m here, right? I had my first classes today, and although they don’t involve gallivanting across Europe, I am also very excited for the books I’ll be reading, the things I’ll be studying, and the perspectives I’ll get to hear in class this semester.

Stay tuned! More adventures to come 🙂
